a quick note. today in the times i came across an obit on soprano camilla williams, the first african american woman to secure a contract with a major u.s. opera company. but see she never really got that credit, most believe marian anderson broke that barrier. camilla’s quote on being denied the light due to her moved me so much, she said, ““the lack of recognition for my accomplishments used to bother me, but you cannot cry over those things. there is no place for bitterness in singing. it works on the cords and ruins the voice. in his own good time, god brings everything right.” amen.
