afghani children led by girls

a marching row of children stream into a class

just yesterday shattered by gun men

cringing triggers pulled on these children who were

eyes a soul alight

greed wins not this fight

spells her eyes and her eyes and his eyes

alight ablaze a fright a maze pan’s labyrinth for real not fake

old pink notebooks clutched tight against her body

a haze of armor and she’s

back in school for more learning

danger alarm inside burning

but for more school they were yearning

them eyes stare at us without knowing

we see how they look

and away we keep turning

looking for the strength to keep learning

it aint just bad news

im waging

keep tuning in for truth amazing

and winning on every motherfucking occasion
